KARACHI: April 17, 2020: As part of its ongoing efforts to support the district authorities amid the Coronavirus outbreak, Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited (EPQL) has donated ration bags worth more than PKR 4.5 million to benefit 1000 families in the Ghotki community.
Each ration bag includes essential food items, such as flour, rice, pulses and hygiene-related products, to help the families meet their daily nutritional requirements. The ration bags were handed over to Assistant Commissioner Ghotki, Mohammad Shahab Aslam, by EPQL representatives for further distribution among the deserving families.
“It is very heartening to see the positive response of companies like EPQL for relief efforts of the local authorities. This will certainly help alleviate the community especially in the lockdown situation. On behalf of the district government, I would like to acknowledge the caring attitude shown by the Company”, said Assistant Commissioner Ghotki, Mohammad Shahab Aslam.
Sharing his thoughts about this initiative, Shahab Qader – CEO EPQL, said that “we are committed to fulfill our responsibility to support the welfare and growth of Ghotki community. We stand with the district authorities to improve access to healthcare, nutrition, hygiene and sanitation in the area to counter the challenge posed by Coronavirus and prevent its spread here”.
Engro Energy (EEL), the parent company of EPQL, has already announced a donation of PKR 50 million to the Government of Sindh Corona Emergency Fund. The funds donated by EEL reflect the commitment made by Chairman Engro Corporation Hussain Dawood, who had pledged a contribution in services, kind and cash of PKR 1 billion for the Coronavirus crisis.
